Nestled in the vibrant San Antonio neighborhood along San Pedro Avenue, The Dogfather serves up a truly inventive take on the classic American hot dog. This hot dog restaurant is not just about throwing a sausage in a bun; it’s a celebration of bold flavors, creative combinations, and an inclusive menu that thoughtfully caters to all dietary preferences—including vegan options that are anything but an afterthought.
Step inside or enjoy the relaxed outdoor seating area where friendly staff and a laid-back vibe set the tone for a memorable dining experience. The Dogfather’s atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between chill and lively, with music enhancing the welcoming feel without overpowering conversation.
The menu itself is a playground for the senses, brimming with mouthwatering dishes crafted to excite your palate. Highlights include the Elote Dog, bursting with the smoky sweetness of Mexican street corn, and the indulgent Frito Dog, layered with crunchy Fritos that add a delightful texture. For those seeking richness, the Guacdog and Chilicheesedog deliver creamy, spicy, and cheesy depth all in one bite. Adventurous eaters will appreciate unique offerings like the Lobster Roll hot dog and the wholly vegan Vegan Frito Pie Dog with Tots, proving that hot dogs can be anything but ordinary.
Accompany your meal with perfectly crispy Tater Tots or the more flavorful Loaded Tots for extra indulgence. And if you’re craving something fresh, the cool, tangy lemonade offers a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors on your plate. Don’t miss the Elote Fries — a clever twist that captures the same zesty charm of their signature hot dog counterpart.
One of the stand-out qualities at The Dogfather is the attention to detail in their add-ons and sauces. Whether you want to spice things up with their Bomb Sauce or add creamy layers with the Vegan Queso, each dipping sauce invites you to tailor your experience exactly how you like it. The option to customize every aspect — from chili to hot Cheetos or Fritos on the side — enhances the fun and interactive nature of the meal.

The Dog Father is my favorite spot, hands down. I always grab the Dog of the Week before it disappears on Sunday—creative, fun, and always tasty. Best part: they can make anything vegan on request. Friendly vibes, quick service, and consistently awesome dogs.
Some of the hot dogs are very interesting and have a lot going on but I ended up getting something that was really good. I wish they had more traditional options as well for people who may have food restrictions. The service was good too! I got the Stinger and appreciated the all beef quality. The ambiance is chill and they both indoor and outdoor seating with music playing. PS My friends stated that anything with the Bratwurst wasn't as good but I did not try it myself.
Wanted to celebrate the end of my school year so I came down to The Dogfather for the first time. Staff is friendly and the food is good. I got the Dog of the Week (which was Diablo Dogs) and a full order of curly fries. The dogs were excellent. The curly fries are great and very crispy, but I could've gone with just a half order since they actually gave more than I was expecting. Will see if I can bring some friends next time.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ all around! Absolute banger of a restaurant. Great variety of options and very inclusive with the vegan and vegetarian options! Creative & extensive menu. Also, the staff were super friendly and quick with the service. I especially love that they are moving away from 3rd-party delivery apps as their food is meant to be enjoyed hot and fresh Great selection of sodas and drinks as well. Definitely recommend when in SATX!
The hotdogs that I had were just full of flavor that I wasn't expecting in such a delicious way. The atmosphere was peaceful and friendly people. I would definitely recommend coming here to try them.
The Chilli on the tots was the only thing I didn't like, my wife liked it though so perhaps its just me.. The dogs were great and they are creative with the toppings. The decor definitely fit the name and the service was excellent.
Great customer from the start. Easy to read menu. Good selection of drinks. Food was ready quickly and still very tasty. Sat outside on the picnic tables. Definitely would comeback.
Small joint with friendly people and amazing hot dogs. We don't typically eat hot dogs but we'll definitely return when in San Antonio again. The food was plentiful, well seasoned and hot. I ordered the hot dog with hot cheetos. I've never had anything like it but really enjoyed it.
